Capsule Wardrobe

Hipobuy Hoodies, Tees and Jackets: Building a Capsule Wardrobe from the Sheet

Instead of chasing one-off hipobuy spreadsheet hoodies, hipobuy spreadsheet t-shirts and hipobuy spreadsheet jackets, build a capsule. Ten pieces, one palette, one parcel plan - more outfits, less clutter, better freight economics.

What a hipobuy capsule looks like

Ten pieces, all from the hoodies/tees/jackets tabs, chosen so every piece works with every other piece. The goal is twenty or more complete outfits from ten items. The sheet makes this easier than any other sourcing route, because the row-by-row layout lets you compare colors and fabrics side by side.

The ten pieces

  1. Anchor hoodie - heavyweight, neutral color. The piece you will wear most.
  2. Second hoodie - mid-weight, slightly different silhouette (zip-up or crewneck).
  3. Lightweight jacket - overshirt or shell. Transition piece from fall to spring.
  4. Heavier jacket - puffer or workwear-style. Peak-cold anchor.
  5. Heavyweight tee #1 - plain neutral (white, cream, black, or oatmeal).
  6. Heavyweight tee #2 - plain second neutral or deep tone (navy, olive, charcoal).
  7. Graphic tee - one, carefully chosen. The accent piece.
  8. Boxy knit sweater - the one layering piece that is not a hoodie.
  9. Collared shirt or short-sleeve button-up - breaks up the sweatshirt look.
  10. Jersey or sport-inspired top - the character item. See the everyday essentials guide for specific jersey picks.

The palette rule

Pick a palette of three colors before you open the sheet. The simplest that works: one neutral base (cream, white, oatmeal), one deep tone (black, navy, forest), and one accent (soft red, muted yellow, dusty blue - something small). Every piece in your ten should sit inside that palette. This is the single rule that turns a drawer of pieces into a capsule.

Choosing anchor pieces first

Items 1 (anchor hoodie) and 4 (heavy jacket) are the pieces to spend most time choosing. They are the frame for the whole capsule. Three rules:

Reading rows for the capsule

Outfits from ten pieces

Rough combinatorics: three hoodies/sweaters × two jackets × three tees = eighteen combinations, before you factor in the shirt and jersey. In practice, you will land on fifteen to twenty outfits you actually wear. Each outfit also pairs with pants/sneakers from the other tabs - see the sneaker materials deep dive for the shoe anchor.

The parcel plan

  1. Parcel 1 (anchors): items 1, 4, 5, 6 - the heavy anchor pieces.
  2. Parcel 2 (fillers): items 2, 3, 7, 8 - lighter secondary pieces that pad efficiently.
  3. Parcel 3 (character): items 9, 10 plus accessories from the essentials guide.

Three parcels across three months lets you test anchors before completing the capsule, keeps your shipping cost per piece reasonable, and spreads the budget.

Sizing the capsule correctly

Measure a hoodie, a tee and a jacket you already own and love. Match the seller's cm chart to each piece. Your capsule should have consistent fit - do not mix oversized hoodies with slim tees unless that is a deliberate style choice.

What to avoid in a capsule build

Capsule maintenance

Replace one or two pieces per year as they wear out. Resist adding "just one more" piece every parcel; the point of a capsule is restraint. Any additional purchases should slot into the palette and the fabric-weight standard you already set.
